Seat was way too hard and narrow for me, but easily replaced. Quick release axles are found at both ends of the bike along with mechanical disc brakes.What is the weight? the 1x is awesome. Believe me, my start into mountain biking was expensive because I made a lot of mistakes. its an excellent platform. Big box bikes have changed a lot recently, they’re no longer fake mountain bikes.
At 6'0" I find the size just fine but doubt riders any shorter will find it comfortable. The only thing is online it says for riders 5â4â to 6â2â however Iâm 5â8â and i have no room between the top bar and my groin so i would say 5â8â is the minimum. The frame is VERY well built. name brand components, but it should be more than capable to get you started on the trails. Iâll start with the cons first and finish off with the pros. )The pictured bike is actually the second Axum I has delivered, the first arrived in a heavily damaged box with no parts box. the pros, this gear ratio will allow you to climb hills, the dropper post was worth every penny if you take it mountain biking, the frame is beautiful, the wheel size allows you to roll over roots, downed trees and bushwack like a boss. There is a reason Scott bikes and Niners cost so much. AXE components are a new one for us, but ive decided to go the route of swapping out parts sooner then later. I'm sure we could complete this in an hour now, but it took much longer the first time.It's a awesome beginner bike. Any upgrade to the fork will be a great improvement to the bike overall. Brakes needed no adjustment stop awesome. Oh and did I mention those massive 29x2.60 tires this thing is a tank. They MUST be losing money on this.If I was still in retail this is a bike that I could see trucking out the door.
The shifting is smooth and crisp, BUT with a cheap derailleur it does make a lot of noise. Great frame and easy to customize.
the biggest issues is the headset out of the box was leaking bearing into the frame. Some reviews half the people are missing parts. This is a very cool looking bike.Sold with pedals and a rear mount kickstand (that will probably quickly be removed for actual trail riding), the Axum is priced at just $398. I really love the color of this bike and the tires are big 2.6” wide. An upgrade in brakes will greatly improve this bike.The fork is 100 mm in travel but frankly, in my opinion, itâs not enough for any kind of riding that is anything above casual. Arrived with excellent protective packaging but no tools -you'll need hex wrenches and a Phillips head.
