If he opened his studio in 1851 (I have not researched this but other authors quote 1856), that was too early for the ambrotype and he would most likely have produced portraits in the daguerreotype format and that is a skill he likely refined in Paris. George concentrated on the portrait studio work until 1884 when ill-health took him to New Zealand where he became one of the early landscape photographers in that country. James Valentine is a naturalist photographer, artist, and filmmaker whose work, including more than ten books, has helped to preserve millions of wild acres in the Southeast and throughout the Americas.
He is in production of a fine art wilderness ecosystem based photography book depicting new scientific discoveries in the Guiana Shield, South America.Through his pioneering photographic ecosystem research, exploration and scientifically based documentation Valentine is considered one of the most notable photographers in America. (It will open a little more confusion possibly, but it’s also useful to be looking at.) James Valentine (1815-1879) was first commissioned in 1866 by the Royal family to produce a series of Scottish views, later receiving the coveted Royal warrant as official photographer to the Queen.

After James's death in 1880, his son William Dobson took over the ever-expanding business. By the 1860s the company had begun to cater for the growing tourist industry by producing photographic prints with views from around the country.
Respect and fear are two different things. If you find out who made the often very good views of Morocco published by Valentine, I would be interested to know.I am intrigued by your comment about Valentine's period of study in Paris as a photographer. ID: 3161454.
With ten books under his belt, the founding of the first environmental art center, and contribution to national land and water conservation acts, Florida is lucky to have him on its side. To answer the main point, I have never seen a Valentine daguerreotype.
(A related, similar frustration here in New Zealand is trying to work out where these portraits were made - here or there. People have so much fear about different types of wildlife.
